Description
Reporting directly to the Thrift Store Manager, this position will be suited to an individual Interested in retail and merchandising. The successful candidate will work within all areas of the Thrift Stores, gaining an understanding of thrift store production and retail operations, and will be responsible for learning all aspects of thrift store operations.
HOURS:
- 35 hours per week, between 8.30 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
- From July 5, 2021, to August 28, 2021, any day between Monday and Saturday
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the Thrift Store Manager to provide any reporting or clerical work required.
- Assist and fill in various store positions to gain overall insight into the Thrift Store practices and procedures (e.g. merchandising, sales, cashier).
- Staff and volunteer scheduling.
- Maintaining volunteer statistics.
- Training and coaching of volunteers.
- Ensuring all policies and procedures, including health and safety, are being adhered to.
- Data entry.
- Maintaining current records and filing.
- Facility maintenance and upkeep.
- Fulfill requirements for reporting, documentation, and other administrative tasks.
- Maintaining a positive work environment.
- Documentation, recordkeeping and reporting of hours and statistics for volunteer base.
- Interactions and communications with volunteers and staff, including training, recruitment, daily needs, and concerns.
- Clerical and administrative tasks as required.
- May include review and update of operational manuals, policies, and procedures in the thrift store environment, depending on the length of the contract.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Completion of high school.
Experience:
- More than three months of customer service experience or related experience.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Computer skills.
- Able to concentrate and handle detailed tasks.
- Flexibility to change tasks with little notice.
- Able to provide positive customer service and attentive listening skills directing visitors.
- Requires substantial amount of standing, moderate amount of lifting, occasional cutting and carrying supplies
- Able to lift more than 20lbs.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Previous retail or thrift store experience.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
