Description
To coordinate, promote and lead in our summer day camp programming and children and youth ministries.
HOURS:
- Starts from June 14, 2021, to August 6, 2021 (35 hours per week including some evenings and weekends).
- Must be aged between 15 – 30 years.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to the spiritual development of children and youth by teaching and sharing. Christ, encouraging and modeling appropriate Christian attitudes and behaviors.
- Initiate outreach to underprivileged, at-risk, or community children to promote attendance at day camp.
- Process all applications and financing for day camp.
- Follow-up families for evaluation and further offer of services and ministry.
- Recruits and organizes volunteers for day camp.
- Plans, leads, and oversees all aspects of the day camp program: curriculum, snack, sports coaching, small group leaders, security, registration process, multi-media, program materials.
- Liaison with Salvation Army staff for oversight and coordination of resources.
- The performance of the job requires lifting boxes and organizing supplies.
- The incumbent is required to lift more than 20 pounds.
- Travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
- Completion of high school would be beneficial.
NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.
- Certificate in First Aid and CPR Training (preferred)
Experience:
- Three months working with children, preferably including administrative experience.
- Administrative duties in the operations of summer events programs.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Ability to relate to children and parents/guardians from multiple socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
- Strong work ethic and initiative, able to work in a team or independently.
- Basic computer skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Awareness and compliance with Chilliwack Policies and Procedures.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

- Clean drivers abstract.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
- Police Security Clearance Certificate
