The salary range for this position is recruitment range: $76,200.06 – $107,800.00 annually. The starting salary for this position will be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and subject to the requirements of the Management Compensation and Classification Framework (MCCF)

Government Communications and Public Engagement (GCPE) is a dynamic, progressive organization that supports the government in its ongoing dialogue with British Columbians. GCPE leads and coordinates government communications and public engagement through three divisions: Communications Operations, Strategic Communications and Corporate Services.

The Communications and Media Relations Division is responsible for the communications management and coordination of corporate priority files of government and provides strategic coordination of daily issues-based communications activities to meet government’s communications requirements for issues management.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field such as journalism, public relations, political science, writing, English, marketing or a communications-related discipline and 5 years or more related work experience in progressively more responsible communications positions

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

Related work experience is defined as each of the following:
Experience in digital communications campaign development and management

Experience with social media outreach and strategic online engagement

Experience in professional writing/communications product development, (e.g.: engagement and communication plans, new releases, backgrounders; publications content; speech writing; notes and strategies for legislative introductions; web content etc.)

Experience managing complex files and projects as a team leader

Experience supervising staff

Preference may be given to those with:
Experience having direct responsibility for developing and coordinating internal/external communications and engagement functions of a complex corporate or public sector organization

Experience with implementation of best practice in social media, social media advertising and online advertising

Experience with government and parliamentary procedures

Provisos/Willingness

Candidates must be willing and able to work:
On-call and extended hours during emergency activations, including operational deployments across the province

Flexible work arrangements (schedules and workplaces). Some evening and weekend work may be required to accommodate meetings, travel, etc.
