Role Responsibility:
Major Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Assists in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization’s mission of providing service excellence in complex aviation environment
Manages organization operations by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies.
Responsible for the effective and efficient scheduling and deployment of 1,000+ workforce
Implements improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.
Responsible for the on target delivery of contractual KPIs. Identifies and act on strengths, weaknesses and opportunities in order to drive continuous improvements on KPI results
Working as part of the Senior Management Team, helps to develop and create the Strategic framework and Strategic goals of the Division in the short, medium and long term. Responsible for implementing the Strategic goals and associated projects within the team and ensuring the projects and initiatives are exceptionally done and completed on time. Must also be aligned to the Strategic Vision and ensure all communications and decisions support and enable the Vision to be a reality.
Provides mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees.
Constructs the operational infrastructure, taking the overall leadership role regarding significant business issues.
Deals with the client, external stakeholders and the general public tactfully and in a manner that benefits both the organization’s and client mandates.
Implements and applies a variety of approaches to people development, such as performance assessments, administrative policies and procedures, motivate and reward the achievement of goals. Coach, mentor, recognize, and create a highly engaged workforce towards desired goals.
Provides leadership and innovative ideas and inspires in staff the desire to be motivated, innovative, and to be the best in the business. Ensures training, development and encourages career progression.
Promote ethical behaviour by the organization and all staff. Ensure, promote and monitor adherence to business ethics and conduct policies and guidelines.
The Senior Director of Operations directly supervises Directors and Managers and is responsible for overall management to achieve superior customer satisfaction.
The Ideal Candidate:
Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications Required:
University Degree, with a MBA or other Masters’ degree preferred
15 or more years of experience in increasingly responsible management positions where excellent contract performance and employee management skills have been emphasized. Must have demonstrated ability to effectively lead a $75M business
Knowledge of the Aviation sector is a strong asset
Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Green Belt certified (or similar) preferred
Must be able to secure and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance
Valid BC Driver’s License and access to own vehicle is an asset
Skills required:
Extensive knowledge of domestic and international aviation operations
Demonstrated ability to drive operational effectiveness and optimization of outsourced services
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, unions, partners and other stakeholders
Proven ability to drive organizational change
Lead through teamwork, collaboration and cooperation
Proven track record on coaching direct reports to mentor and motivate the larger workforce
Identify critical issues quickly and accurately
Business acumen with effective negotiation skills
Efficiency in oral and written communication
Ability to manage conflict with tact and diplomacy
Promotes health and safety in the workplace
Ability to muli-task in a fast-paced environment
Set high yet achievable goals for self and others
Strong organizational skills
Proficiency in MS Office and Google Cloud applications
