About us: LakeCity Works supports people with mental illness to build on their strengths, take on responsibilities and access work experience, education and employment. As well as our employment support and therapeutic services, we also operate several social enterprises. We’re best known for our flagship enterprise, LakeCity Woodworkers, where we produce beautiful solid wood furniture. The Position Overview: Due to internal promotion, we are currently seeking a talented individual to join our team in the key role of Director of Operations. This is a full time, permanent leadership position with a pivotal role to play within the organization. The Director of Operations has responsibility for all production teams across our social enterprises, the retail function and core ancillary services such as quality management and shipping.

This role would suit a highly capable individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment where they need to draw on a range of skills and experience to complete their objectives. A natural problem solver, you will need strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a team through empowerment and engagement. This is a role where your work truly makes a difference and would be ideal for someone with a passion for social enterprise. The job also requires empathy and understanding for individuals living with mental illness and a natural inclination to interact with our clients and on-site participants with respect and professionalism.

Core Activities: The following is a summary of some of the primary tasks and responsibilities required for the successful completion of this role:

Lead multiple small production teams, utilizing lean methodology

Manage components such as sourcing, inventory, wastage, costing and pricing

Complete forecasting and reporting utilizing KPIs, identifying and driving opportunities for continuous improvement

Manage performance and facilitate growth throughout production, retail and ancillary services

Collaborate with the wider team both strategically and operationally, on new initiatives, best practices and operational evolution

Contribute to an enviable organizational culture while delivering positive impact

Respond effectively to changing operating environments, maintaining business continuity even in potentially adverse conditions

Lead various internal projects to support the growth and development of the organization

Work Details: Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8-4 and the successful applicant should expect to be onsite throughout the week. Our production facilities are spread across two locations, both in Dartmouth, so independent transport will be required to travel between them.
