        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Booth University College has an opportunity for an Admissions Counsellor who is an engaging, self-motivated team member with a solid understanding of the post-secondary admissions process.  You are identifying future students as they make key decisions on their educational goals, and assisting them from first contact through to enrollment, while meeting targets and promoting the advantages of Booth University College.  You are creative, energetic and value Christian higher education. This position reports to the Director of Advancement and is a key member of the Admissions team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and execute recruitment plans for assigned area and/or target population, developing a strategy by creatively utilizing market research, marketing techniques, and knowledge of current best practices in post-secondary enrollment; work collaboratively as part of Admissions team to achieve the institution’s enrollment goals
  • Develop and update a database of and engage with teachers, administrators, and other key influencers/contact people; engage with these people to increase awareness of Booth UC, identify potential applicants, and book workshops, information sessions, and other recruitment events
  • Develop extensive knowledge of Booth University College academic programs and policies, admissions requirements, campus activities, scholarships, etc.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the role of Booth University College within The Salvation Army
  • Promote and raise the profile of Booth University College through a variety of activities such as public speaking, career symposiums, campus events, campus visits, recruitment events and meeting with students
  • Travel to recruitment events as required
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and program coordinators to organize presentations, information sessions and recruitment related activities
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with recruiting agents and stakeholders
  • Advise and support international students on the application process, tuition, scholarships, study permits, and health insurance
  • Manage interactions with government entities such as Manitoba Council for International Education (MCIE) and Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE)
  • Advise and support students on the application process, tuition, scholarships, residence options, etc.
  • Continually qualify the applicant pool
  • Monitor receipt of applications and support the prospective students throughout the admission process by maintaining contact, answering their queries, helping them complete required documents, and ensuring file completion
  • Review files for acceptance and present admission recommendations to Director of Advancement
  • Effectively utilize the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and Populi SIS (Student Information System) software to execute job responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Agreement with the Booth University College statement of faith and commitment to the Mission of Booth University College, while being fully supportive of the integration of faith and learning in a Christian university level setting
  • Ability to integrate your Christian faith within the workplace
  • Post-secondary degree
  • Several years progressive work experience with experience in sales, marketing and/or student recruitment preferred
  • Excellent communication and relation-building skills; with effective public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to stay positively focused on attaining targets
  • Capability to effectively utilize a complex data base system
  • Ability to work on registration deadlines, while meeting college-wide enrollment goals
  • Proficiency to utilize customer service strategies to recruit students to Booth UC’s programs
  • Willing to work flexible hours including some evenings
  • Highly organized with excellent follow-up and creative problem-solving skills
  • A valid driver’s license and willing to travel
  • Satisfactory criminal record check

 

Assets:

  • Experience with a Student Information System (SIS) or Customer Relations Management (CRM) software
  • A working understanding of The Salvation Army
