The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) of the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track position with a specialization in content-based language education (e.g., immersion; CLIL) in higher education and relevant research and teaching experience with English language education with a start date of July 1, 2021.
Title of the Position: Assistant professor level, but higher ranks will be considered under exceptional circumstances.
Duties: Responsibilities for the position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising graduate students, and providing vision and leadership related to the development of teaching, research, and outreach (e.g., the development of a university-level English immersion stream, international collaborations, hybrid and distance education, and curriculum development for language education and teacher education programs). The successful candidate will be expected to carry out a robust research program, seek external funding, demonstrate a sustained commitment to active participation in the administrative activities of the unit and the Faculty, and participate in the activities of professional organizations.
Terms: Tenure-track position
Wage: Salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $86,986 (as of May 1, 2020).

Required Skills:
The successful candidate will be an expert in the theoretical and practical aspects of language pedagogy with a specialization in content-based language education. They will engage in research to support the design and oversight of the curriculum for undergraduate and graduate programs as well as cross-disciplinary initiatives linked to internationalization, university-level immersion, English language development, and the promotion of Francophonie and bilingualism.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
a doctorate in applied linguistics, second/foreign-language acquisition or a related field;
evidence of excellence in teaching at a post-secondary institution;
evidence of an established and innovative research program and a record of refereed publications and community-based outreach and knowledge mobilization focusing on the pedagogical and policy implications of language and literacies development in a university context characterized by linguistic and cultural diversification;
an ability to attract external funding; and
demonstrated skills in working collaboratively and with diverse populations.
