The Educational Planning & Advising Officer identifies and supports the

academic and experiential learning needs of students. This is specialized interviewing, educational planning and advising work. The Officer builds partnerships within the community that will further student

academic plans and careers.

What you’ll do

  • Advises on admissions to the University
  • Assists students with educational planning
  • Work collaboratively with community partners in support of expanding and sustaining mutually beneficial experiential learning experience
  • Prepares students to meet the expectations of experiential learning partners and programs
  • Presents at career fairs, parents groups and in 1-to-1 settings to promote experience learning partnerships and opportunities
  • Attends and speaks at community events, and business networking events promote experience learning partnerships and opportunities
  • Builds and maintains localized presence and a strong network of local contacts
  • Participates in the marketing and promotion of programs and learning opportunities
  • Develops and produces external newsletters and materials for potential learners, program partners and other stakeholders
  • Assists students with the registrations process

What you’ll bring

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in education or a related field such as business communications
  • Two years of experience in an educational institution as an advisor/counsellor about postsecondary education requirements and options

OR

Two years of experience in a post-secondary institution in the areas of assessing students’ admissibility or academic preparation for postsecondary education

  • Experience building and developing relationships with employers and community partners
  • Experience in a wide-range of community outreach, development and engagement work; experience in work-integrated learning development an asset
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License

Days and Hours of Work

This position is for 21 hours per week. Our standard work week is Monday to Friday. This position can include some evening and some weekend work.

Salary

$32.88 per hour (with incremental increases to a max of $37.01 per hour).
