Description
The Thrift Store Clerk provides service to customers, sorts incoming product, and assists in the ongoing retail operations of The Salvation Army Lindsay Thrift Store
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet customers and donors in a friendly manner and provide excellent customer service
- Provide cashier duties ensuring transactions are accurate and all merchandise is rung in the cash register and other procedures followed
- Assist in keeping the Store tidy, clean, organized and stocked of merchandise
- Sort and price donations as directed
- Answer the phone efficiently in a polite and professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Completion of some secondary education
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Good attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work within a team as well as independently
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality
- Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
- Required to be available for full 14 weeks of program starting May 31, 2021 thru September 4, 2021.
Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring
HOURS: 20 hours per week. (Some days the hours may differ).
Tuesday & Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (.5 hour unpaid meal break)
Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (.5 hour unpaid meal break)
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
