The Opportunity
The Immigration Services Branch is seeking a permanent Manager, Economic Immigration to work within the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), Economic Immigration Unit. The Manager plays an important role in attracting and retaining immigrants helping to meet Saskatchewan’s current and future labour market needs, economic development goals, and to improve the socio-economic outcomes of immigrants who settle here.
Reporting to the Director, Economic Immigration, your responsibilities will include:
Supervision of 25+ Immigration Officers and Client Engagement Officers, within the Economic Immigration Unit;
Approval and rejection of International Skilled Worker applications which involves reviewing the work done on the recommendation by an Immigration Officer;
Evaluating processes and procedures within the SINP economic immigration unit to improve processing outcomes and streamline services;
Promoting awareness and understanding of the Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP) and federal immigration criteria and processes to clients and stakeholders to increase participation in the program and increase immigration to Saskatchewan;
Developing working relationships with related federal and provincial agencies and other stakeholders; and,
Consulting with government, community, employers, and other stakeholders to implement immigration strategies in Saskatchewan.
Success in this role requires:
Knowledge of labour market trends, needs, and issues in Saskatchewan;
Knowledge of federal and provincial immigration programs and applicable acts;
The ability to search for and assess data/information;
The ability to assess complex information to make eligibility decisions;
The ability to build consensus, develop and manage projects, strong aptitude to recognize and acknowledge cultural and ethnic sensitivities, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with varying levels of education and language capabilities;
The ability to work independently or collaboratively as a team member with co-workers, stakeholders, and others to consistently meet Ministry and client needs; and,
Being an enthusiastic team player whom tactfully and respectfully supports colleagues to promote a positive work environment.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a bachelor degree in business administration, commerce, economics or social science. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
