Based in Burlington, Ontario, Islamic Relief Canada is one of the leading international NGOS and the largest Muslim NGO in Canada. IRC is part of a large, federated iNGO founded in 1984 and has program delivery in over 36 countries. We have helped millions of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people with our active presence across the globe as we strive to make the world a better and fairer place for the three billion people still living in poverty.

Inspired by the Islamic faith and guided by our values, our projects provide vulnerable people with access to vital services, we protect communities from disasters and deliver life-saving emergency aid. We provide lasting routes out of poverty and empower vulnerable people to transform their lives and their communities.

The Board of Directors are looking to appoint a talented and values-driven CEO to provide visionary leadership to IR Canada, who inspires, engages and motivates employees, supporters and partners, to deliver IR Canada’s vision and mission and to further develop the organization’s leading position within the global NGO community.

The ideal candidate should have:

• An outstanding record of achievement in strategic leadership, ideally as Chief Executive, Director, or at a comparable senior level.
• A history of motivating multi-functional teams in substantial and complex organizations.
• A professional with at least five years’ experience in the humanitarian & development sector and an understanding of Islamic humanitarian principles and Islamic values.
• Knowledge and experience of private fundraising, institutional donor contracts, and government relations.
• Knowledge in developing and enhancing the profile and branding of the organizations and is comfortable with media.
• A good communicator with experience in building relationships with external opinion-makers (Governments, media, etc) to generate support for the IR mission.
