Business Instructors, Accounting

The School of Business is seeking Business Instructors, Accounting for short-term appointments. The position is in the Business Administration, Post-Graduate Business Management, and Post-Graduate Accounting diploma programs to teach Introductory Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Financial Management, Advanced Management Accounting, and Accounting for Managers. The successful candidates will join a team of accomplished business professionals in a very fast-paced and internationalized School. The tentative schedule is planned for early evening sessions either in-person or online/remote, but the schedule may be negotiable. This position will work on the Castlegar campus, and any available remote work will be aligned with the Colleges’ remote work framework.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provide instruction to students

Provide constructive and meaningful feedback to students

Develop and maintain curriculum

Participate in School and program meetings

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to instruct courses, as well as engage with others in the faculty team to facilitate student engagement

Demonstrated ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and academic abilities

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Strong communication skills, and current accounting work experience

Experience teaching international students would be an asset

Excellent interpersonal skills (both orally and in writing)

Strong competencies in working independently and as part of a team

Education and Experience

Must possess an accounting designation degree

Preference will be given to applicants who possess successful post-secondary teaching experience (both classroom-based and online-based), course development experience, or an instructor’s diploma

These are short-term, part-time and full-time (25% up to 100%) positions commencing August 19, 2021 and ending December 22, 2021. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Selkirk College Faculty Association (SCFA) Collective Agreement, Schedule A. The salary range is $2,369.08 – $3,806.85 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
