Description
The Swamper will assist the driver in picking up and sorting donations from stores for Salvation Army North Vancouver.
HOURS:
- 20 hours per week
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes raw materials by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, loading and baling the donations; protects the integrity of the donation.
- Selects donations for store distribution meeting established standards of quality and distinguishing between discarded and good quality merchandise according to company standards
- Meets assigned daily targets; counts weighs and records incoming and outgoing donations
- Complies with all safety procedures and in/outdoor tidy maintenance guidelines
- Operates warehouse equipment such as baler, compactor, forklift, and conveyor
- Pick up food and materials, as needed if the driver is unavailable.
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
- The successful job applicant will have completed High School
- A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License supported by a clean Driver’s Abstract.
Experience:
- Up to 12 months of prior related experience including, experience with warehouse processing or goods distribution and knowledge of lifting guidelines are an asset.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Experience in sorting food and goods
- Punctuality, reliability, trustworthiness
- Required to lift and/or move more than 40 pounds
- Operates warehouse equipment such as forklift
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Focused, compliance with all applicable traffic laws, ability to work independently, ability to work under pressure.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean driver’s abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
