The opportunity…

The Mayo Liquor Store Manager oversees the retail sales of liquor to the public and licensees, ordering and receiving stock, inventory management and supervising and scheduling staff.

This key position with the corporation also manages the store’s Territorial Agent Services on behalf of other government departments. The position is responsible for leading and performing a variety of multi-faceted, complex, regulatory functions associated with the operation of the Territorial Agent Office. The incumbent needs to be culturally sensitive and deal with customers in a culturally sensitive manner.

Extensive experience leading a team

Experience in a retail and client service environment

Experience using a computerized Point of Sales (POS) system

Recent financial management and cash balancing/handling experience

Demonstrated experience with inventory management and control

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

To best support the achievement of key strategic and business objectives, candidates may be assessed on:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (initiative, professionalism, positive attitude, problem solving, conflict resolution);

Exceptional client service skills;

Ability to work independently;

Strong organizational skills in a work environment that is challenging and detailed oriented;

Ability to work in a confidential manner;

Ability to exercise sound judgment in order to refuse service to intoxicated and/or underage customers;

Ability to maintain detailed accurate records and in a computer database.

Additional information

Condition(s) of Employment: Obtaining Notary Public within six months of hire and a Security Clearance.

Job Requirement(s): Wearing safety footwear; wearing and maintaining a uniform provided by Yukon Liquor Corporation, heavy lifting 60% of the time, and working Tuesday to Saturday shifts.
