Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for non-regular Instructors in our Career and College Preparation (CCP) program. The appointments will commence September 7, 2021 and end December 17, 2021 (subject to minimum enrolment) as outlined below. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.
Duties: The Instructor(s) will be responsible to facilitate learning for students, ensuring successful completion of courses. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students as well as completing the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities for the courses outlined below. CCP courses are delivered in various formats, such as self-paced (SP), instructor-led (IL) or mixed with distance or online options using distance technology (video, online) for instruction.
Fundamental Level Math (i.e.: MATH 024, 0251, 0252, 026) – 120 Instructional hours
Fundamental Level English (i.e.: ENGL 024, 025, 026, 030) – 120 Instructional hours
Science 030 (online): Tuesday; 1:00pm to 2:00pm – 90 IL instructional hours
Math 0301/0302: Monday to Thursday (8 hours/week) – 120 IL instructional hours
English 040: Monday to Thursday (8 hours/week) – 120 IL instructional hours

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a closely related discipline
Additional post-secondary education in education or a discipline directly related to the subject areas, (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate or, a Provincial Instructor’s Diploma)
Teaching experience in an Adult Basic Education / Career and College Preparation program
Experience teaching with distributed learning formats as well as knowledge with relevant technologies (i.e.: office 365, Brightspace, video/web conferencing, learning management systems, and online resources) is an asset
An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
Successful applicants will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and experience in the subject areas. As a team player and learner-centered instructor, experience should demonstrate excellent group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to student success and awareness of the barriers the students may face is required, along with a demonstrated ability to foster a motivational learning environment for a diverse student base.
