The Ministry of Education provides strategic, innovative and collaborative leadership to the early learning and child care; Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 Education; literacy and library sectors. It promotes higher student achievement and well-being for Saskatchewan children and youth, and improved literacy skills for all citizens as a foundation of the province’s social and economic growth.

The ministry is seeking a dynamic, highly-motivated leader in the capacity of Executive Director, Education Funding Branch. As Executive Director, you will provide leadership and direction of the branch’s strategies and priorities in support of the overall ministry strategic direction. You will lead a team of professionals to achieve the priorities of the branch and providing financial and governance advice to the education sector.

The Education Funding Branch provides leadership and support to Saskatchewan’s Prekindergarten to Grade 12 sector. It is responsible for provincial funding for the K-12 education system, developing, implementing and evaluating education financial policy, and capital funding programs.

The role will:
Provide leadership to the Ministry of Education and education sector stakeholders with respect to provincial funding and governance for the K-12 education system in order to support effective, accountable boards.

Manage the relationships with external stakeholders and other ministries.

Provide strategic leadership through change management strategies, risk assessment and policy development.

You will be an innovative leader who is able to:
manage and lead multiple projects at any given time;

work with a variety of staff and stakeholders with varied perspectives;

plan strategically for the future; and

demonstrate extensive knowledge of Saskatchewan’s financial reporting principles and practices, a solid understanding of government processes and third party governance structures, as well as a good working knowledge of the K-12 education system.

Typically, the knowledge and competencies for this position would be acquired through a degree in business administration or commerce and an accounting designation, MBA or related degree, combined with leadership, management and program development experience. French/English bilingualism is considered an asset.
