Created through the merger of Transwest Air and West Wind Aviation, Rise Air is embarking on an exciting period of transformation and growth. We are now searching for a dynamic and experienced leader to join us in the role of Director of Maintenance.

Reporting to the President & CEO and working closely with senior management and an experienced maintenance team, the Director of Maintenance will spearhead the integration of maintenance operations, reinforce our focus on safety, increase aircraft reliability, and support our transition to new aircraft types, while driving maintenance productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned technical operations manager with a successful track record within the regional airline industry. You have strong technical qualifications, but you are also a fluent and open communicator who can connect quickly and positively with others and who can naturally build relationships. Promoting a safe, engaging and productive working environment for all is one of your key strengths. You are a business-minded and customer-focused problem solver who can effectively implement strategic initiatives while maximizing productivity.

Selection Criteria

Completion of a Transport Canada-approved maintenance and technology program, or an international equivalent, and be qualified in accordance with CAR 573.04.

Minimum six years’ progressive experience in the performance and direct supervision of maintenance activities at a regional airline, at least six months of which have been obtained within the preceding two years.

Proven track record of managing change and implementing strategic, business, and management principles and practices.

Demonstrated knowledge of financial and risk management principles.

A post-graduate qualification in business administration, commerce, or aviation management is an asset. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Culturally sensitive. Knowledge of northern Saskatchewan First Nation culture and First Nation cultural diversity an asset.

Overview and Key Objectives of the Position

The Director of Maintenance is responsible for development and management of all projects within the scope of maintenance, repair, modification, and overhaul of all aeronautical products which fall under the company’s Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) approval. The Director of Maintenance will ensure that all maintenance activities are accomplished in accordance with regulations, rules and policies established by the Company, Transport Canada, and equipment manufacturers.

We will look to the Director of Maintenance to develop and implement departmental goals and strategies that will support the company’s business plans, including reinforcing quality assurance and safety management systems; developing aging aircraft and reliability management programs; implementing strategies for outsourced and in-house aircraft, engine and component maintenance and associated logistics; increasing personnel training opportunities; and developing robust succession planning.

The Director of Maintenance is a key member of the company’s senior leadership team, providing advice and guidance for long-term and short-term planning, risk management and financial control.
