About The Richmond Mental Health Consumer and Friends’ Society (RCFC):

The Richmond Mental Health Consumer and Friends’ Society (RCFC) is a self-governing peer-run mental health organization. We provide peer support and a full calendar of interesting and diverse activities to adult mental health consumers living in Richmond, B.C.

Summary of Duties:

Develops, plans, organizes and delivers programs to meet clients’ social, cultural, recreational, physical, mental, and emotional needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Publisher, Access, Word, and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to research and develop quality recreational opportunities that meet a wide variety of community needs.  

Key Activities:

  • Develops, manages, schedules, and delivers therapeutic recreational programs and activities for clients.
  • Supervises two peer support, recreation leaders.
  • Leads a variety of activities and groups.
  • Provides set up, decorating, and clean up following activities.
  • Maintains activity rooms and storage areas as needed. 
  • Provides ongoing communication with clients, families, and other mental health services throughout Richmond.
  • Tracks, evaluate, and keeps statistics of clients’ participation and activities.
  • Provides input into budget and ensures compliance within the program’s budget guidelines.
  • Ensures the program complies with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Develops program goals and provides assessment tools as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Recognized Therapeutic or Community Recreation or a relevant combination of education and experience. 
  • Two (2) years of experience delivering programs to people with mental health issues or similar relative work experience.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Class 5 D.L.
  • Current Clean Drivers Abstract.
  • Criminal Record Check (if successful, required).
  • T.B. Test (if successful, required).

This position is a full-time (36 hours per week) Monday to Friday daytime position with occasional evening or weekend shifts as needed.

The annual salary is $46,800 plus benefits.
