Key Responsibilities

Leadership; provide day to day management, supervision and mentorship of our farm staff in meeting operational goals and in implementation of the Student Managed Farm model.

Efficient operation of all farm lab units, including our beef, dairy, bison, equine and field crops enterprises in cooperation with the Student Managed Farm teams; work with SMF and farm staff on budget and farm financials.

Support and guidance to academic programming, the Student Managed Farm model and applied research; ensure a team approach.

Establish coordination, meetings and communication between farm staff, academic staff, research as well as other college departments and staff.

Personnel management and staffing including hiring, professional development, performance reviews; inventory and farm supplies management; hiring and managing contract work; effective college and community relations.

Job Requirements

Ability to lead and motivate others and to be committed to collaboration, teamwork, effective goal setting and evaluation, and accountability.

Demonstrates professionalism, a positive attitude, a willingness to accept and promote change (open-minded) and transparent communication.

Minimum of a Diploma in an Agricultural Sciences related field, preference for a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences.

Minimum of five years of practical farm experience.

Knowledge and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to adapt to new technology and computer software.

Employment Terms

This is a Full-time Continuing Administrative appointment at the Vermilion campus, commencing August 2, 2021. The current salary range is $75,930 – $88,588 per annum. Lakeland College offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes but not limited to a pension plan, extended health, dental, life insurance, paid vacation time, starting at 5 weeks per year.
