Registered Dietitian
Dalhousie University
Reporting to the Director of Engagement, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing dietary guidance and support to customers, clients and staff while supporting all sustainability initiatives through Aramark at Dalhousie University.
Responsibilities:
Nutrition
Counsel students on healthy eating habits, and monitored nutritional status to improve quality of life in the university community
Provide food safety training to Front Line Associates, Management, and Supervisors
Monitor food service operations to ensure adherence to nutritional safety, sanitation, and quality standards
Supervise dietetic interns during administrative and community rotations
Coordinate health related training and in-services for campus community
Utilize assessment and evaluation techniques that consider the varied needs of age-specific populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns
Demonstrate accountability for the proper use of consultation protected health information
Work with subject matter experts on a variety of topics and translate that information into captivating and concrete storytelling, enhancing brand awareness and engagement
Provide support to Catering department for special diet clients and menus
Participates in University Wellness Committee
Sustainability
Facilitate sustainable menus by working with Management, Chef and Suppliers
Evaluate current product line and work with industry to source local and sustainable products in line with Aramark Sustainability program
Manage Marine Stewardship Council supply chain certification program
Manage Fair Trade program on campus
Participates in University Sustainability Committee
Train Management Team and Front Line Associates on Aramark Sustainability Program
Communicate sustainability commitments and innovations to client
Occupational Health & Safety
Manage Safety Recognition program for Front Line Associates to increase employee safety engagement
Direct and lead monthly Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee for account
Manage weekly and monthly safety activities for each profit center to ensure compliance
Complete monthly Workplace Inspections and Food Safety Audits in all dining hall and retail locations
Qualifications:
Post-Secondary Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics
Licensed Registered Dietitian in good standing with NSDA
Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite required
Certified in Advanced Food Safety an asset
Excellent organizational and time management skills; flexibility to meet unanticipated changes to work demands
Superior interpersonal skills; ability to managing relationships effectively
Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team to meet organizational objectives
Demonstrated credibility and discretion in handling confidential/sensitive information
Available to work evenings and/or weekends as required
Position may involve light lifting, prolonged periods of sitting, and exposure to florescent lighting
