Description
The Summer Program Assistant will assist the Resource and Development Coordinator with the planning and organizing of several events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Santa Shuffle
- Manually register participants who choose not to register online
- Put together race kits
- Support with race kit pick up
Donors
- Help prepare quarterly cards and mail them out (late August and late November)
- Log stat entry
Social Media
- Create and schedule posts as needed
Rentals
- Assist when needed with room rentals
- All other admin duties as required (responding to emails, phone calls, data entry, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
- be between 17 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment,
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- High School Diploma required
- In progress on a Post-Secondary Diploma or degree in field of Social Services or related field an asset
- Experience in community programming an asset
- Experience with children and /or young parent families an asset
- Second language spoken an asset
- Must be comfortable in an ever changing environment and learn new tasks quickly
- Must be comfortable with using technology, specifically Microsoft office products (Word, Excel) and with donor databases
- Willingness to work within the mandate of The Salvation Army
- Be available for full 18 weeks of program
Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring
HOURS: 15 hours a week, TBD
