Job Title: Operations Director

Main Purpose of the Job:
The Operations Director (OD) is responsible for overseeing all brewing, cellaring and production. The OD will ensure that production planning, process and quality goals are achieved. This is a permanent, full-time senior position based out of Beau’s All-Natural Brewery in Vankleek Hill, ON.

Reports to: Vice President—Business Strategy, Continuous Improvement and Risk Management

Direct Reports: Maintenance Manager, Production Supervisor, Brewing Supervisor, Cellar Supervisor, Operations Controller

Duties and Responsibilities:
Champion and live an inspiring culture that strives for world-class beer production by effectively communicating Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their importance in all day-to-day activities across departments.

Ensure employees are working in a safe and productive environment.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across brewery operations.

Provide direct reports with Senior Leadership Team (SLT)-approved KPI targets and the support to reach those goals, equipment and staffing budgets, hiring and training support.

Ensure adherence to sales forecast schedules by allocating the correct resources to brewing/cellaring/production needs.

Plan and budget brewery CapEx projects in collaboration with the SLT.

Clearly define the roles and responsibilities of individuals across departments.

Maintain a hands-on approach across brewing, cellaring, and production management to ensure best practices are being followed.

Identify key opportunities for staff education and training.

Support a vigorous health and safety program in collaboration with the Joint Health & Safety Committee

Work very closely and collaboratively with the Quality Manager to ensure product consistency and quality.

Ensure all brewery equipment is maintained to OEM standards.

Assess the qualitative aspects of all raw material inputs and their likely impact on finished product.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by being involved in educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies and certification programs.

Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years experience in a senior leadership role at a brewery in an operational capacity is mandatory

Degree or Diploma in Brewing or Fermentation science is mandatory; IBD Graduates will also be considered

Thorough understanding of beer production from grain to glass

Proven leadership skills

Experience developing new products

Experience with EKOS/OBEER/SAP a plus

Distillation experience a plus

Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

That of a food processing facility, a warehouse facility, as well as an office environment.

The noise level in certain parts of the brewery can be loud, in excess of 80 dB.

May work regularly around high voltage lines, flame, hot water, and steam.

Works with hazardous materials.

Works near moving mechanical parts

Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb.

Ability to talk, hear, and smell.

Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
