Coordinator – Education Services

Position Description:
Pembina Hills School Division is seeking a Coordinator to join the Division’s Education Services team. The Education Services Coordinator will work with the existing Coordinators and the rest of the Education Services team to help implement key strategies of the Division’s 2021-2022 Education Plan. The Education Services Coordinator will collaborate with the others to:

Train, guide, and monitor schools’ Inclusive Education Lead Teachers

Collaborate with schools’ Inclusive Education Lead Teachers and Principals to:

Coordinate inclusive supports in classrooms with Tier 2 and Tier 3 students

Support staff with students who have complex communication needs

Coordinate behaviour supports in classrooms with Tier 2 and Tier 3 students

Support classroom teachers with the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies through Concept Based Instruction and purposeful inclusion

Coordinate and monitor Division counselling supports

Guide and support the Mental Health Literacy project

Orient and develop capacity of new teachers to PHSD

Facilitate grade group and other peer collaborations

Qualifications:
Must hold a valid Alberta teaching certificate

Proficiency in the use of educational technology

Understanding and application of Assessment, Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction

Successful classroom teaching experience

Ability to work as part of a team

Experience in Special Education Services or Counselling (School and/or Division level) would be an asset

A Masters degree or postgraduate courses in area of appropriate specialty, including Special Education, Psychology or Counselling would be an asset

The Successful Candidate:
Has knowledge of the priorities and key strategies of the Division Education Plan

Has knowledge of Division policies and procedures

Understands of the principles of Universal Design for Learning and Concept Based Instruction

Values and understands the importance of Assessment for and of Learning

Has a student first focus and a belief that all children can learn and succeed

Demonstrates organizational and communication skills

Has excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to form trusting relationships with ease
