The Ministry of Citizens’ Services is responsible for delivering efficient and easy access to services with a single point-of-service approach to citizens. It provides leadership and support for high-speed internet connectivity and corporate leadership across government to modernize information management and information technology resources. The ministry also manages the province’s real estate portfolio, technology systems and equipment, procurement, and supply services.
Located within the Deputy Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Citizens’ Services Corporate Communications team provides strategic communications support to the entire ministry. In addition to coordinating internal communications activities and updates, the team manages the ministry’s intranet and provides advice and support to Citizens’ Services 10 divisions (average size of 250 FTEs), to communicate with cross-government stakeholders on major change management initiatives such as ShareSpace, procurement practices and information technology systems. Key areas of focus for the team include employee engagement, change management, and effective distribution of information related to projects and priorities both within Citizens’ Services and cross-government.
Reporting to the Executive Advisor, Ministry Communications and Strategic Initiatives, the Director, Corporate Communications functions at a senior level and is responsible for leading, developing and implementing communications strategies and tactics targeted to both internal to the ministry and government-wide audiences. Leading a team of communications professionals, this position works to ensure ministry employees receive relevant, timely, and clear information aligned with public service and ministry goals, objectives, values and culture. In addition, the Director, Corporate Communications works with divisional communications representatives, the Public Service Agency and other relevant stakeholders to ensure cross-government ministry initiatives are effectively communicated and understood.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a communications-related field (journalism, public relations, marketing, English); OR an equivalent combination of educations and experience such as an unrelated degree or diploma with five-years leading communications initiatives may be considered.
Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible communications experience.
Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in each of the following areas:
Successfully leading all aspects of corporate communications with an emphasis on developing and implementing comprehensive communications strategies, risk management and change management communications and key message development;
Providing strategic communications counsel to senior leaders;
Providing strategic recommendations that result in effective communications and engagement programs and drive results;
Managing multiple projects or leading a component of a major project; and
Supervising a team of subordinates and managing financial resources.
Preference may be given to applicants who have:
Experience working with senior leaders in a large organization; or
Experience managing an internal-facing website.
