Position Details
Career Bridge: Centre for Work-integrated Learning and Career Development, is currently seeking a full-time Co-op Coordinator and Career Coach. This is an 18-month term position (approximately September 20th, 2021- March 10th, 2023).
Combining academic programs, career services, and a My Experience Transcript Advisor, Career Bridge is a multifaceted team of experts and service providers working together to support WIL, EL, and Career Development across campus.
Reporting to the Academic Director, Career Bridge: Centre for Work-Integrated Learning and Career Development, the successful candidate will provide a variety of services that include:
- Advising & coaching prospective and current students (undergraduate and graduate) and alumni;
- Guide students through the career development cycle and develop steps to achieve career goals, guided skills assessments & inventory;
- Resume, cover letters & interviews, professional development skills (networking, LinkedIn);
- Admission to co-op programs, academic & program requirements;
- Development, preparation & delivery of workshops; career development topics, Co-op Admission & Professional Development
- Co-op work term supervision; guiding reflection & goal setting, monthly assignments, site visits & liaising with placement supervisors, assessment of assignments, leading focus groups, managing student submissions & record keeping
- Relationship development and management with employer partners; including organization and execution of career fairs and on-campus recruitment activities
- Program development activities; e.g., Indigenous Co-op, CEWIL involvement, Co-op Ambassadors
- Liaising with Faculties and Schools; development and promotion of WIL & career programming
- Student recruitment activities
- Facilitating Career Fair planning and delivery
- Assisting with pre-professional program applications and exam preparation
- Creating career-development content for dissemination in-person, digitally, and via social media channels
- Assisting with special ad hoc team and departmental projects as required
Position Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work creatively and collaboratively as part of a team. The ability to manage multiple priorities is considered an asset. Critical qualities for this position include a positive attitude, the ability to take initiative to drive departmental outcomes, and the ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in our stakeholder partners. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated skills in organization, leadership, workshop delivery, event planning, and social media. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to services for students and the ability to maintain confidentiality in a complex environment.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and additional coursework in the career development field. Preference may be given to those possessing a CCDP designation or a Career Development certificate or diploma. A minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in career advising and/or work-integrated learning is preferred.
Hiring Range $4,643.00 – $5,258.00 monthly
