POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Supervisor ensures the efficient and effective reclamation, processing, storage and distribution of goods. The Maintenance Supervisor ensure the building is maintained according to schedules by completing some of the work, and arranging trades when needed according to budget guidelines.
HOURS:
- 37.5 hours per week, schedule may vary based on church and community events and seasonal activities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains maintenance logs, coordinates and participates in scheduled maintenance procedures; ensures maintenance guidelines are in compliance with warranties and contracts
- Plans, directs and may implement preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment, recommends and performs minor and some moderate repairs (program vehicles, faucet, toilets, and light fixtures)
- May maintain and comply with provincial requirements for water and sewage treatment
- Develops and proposes short and long term maintenance plans to management for approval and implementation
- Conducts fire safety inspections and inspects fire safety systems as per fire code
- Ensures the grounds are in good general appearance
- Plans and coordinates renovation projects, including dry walling, minor electrical repairs, painting and plumbing
- Conducts moderate troubleshooting of building systems and calls in other professionals when required
- Participates in developing specifications for tenders, may negotiate tenders and in monitoring quality of workmanship of outside contractors and/or maintenance personnel
- Ensures that the repairs or purchases of new equipment are within the defined budget
- Performs custodial duties: cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping
- Maintains control of inventory by ensuring store donations and supplies are ordered, retrieved, sorted, and priced appropriately; protects store from inventory shrinkage by monitoring loss prevention program and close visual monitoring.
- Ensures appropriate inventory levels based on spot checks of the store and reviewing weekly sales records.
- Takes responsibility for staff and volunteers safety by ensuring overall compliance with all safety procedures and by monitoring Health & Safety policies and procedures and provides feedback to the Store Manager.
- Assists Store Manager in directing all operations of the Thrift store to meet sales targets, and control expenses while maintaining customer service standards.
- Works with volunteers on a daily basis and will participate in their training.
- May participate in the hiring, orientation, training, and recognizing of employees and volunteers in concert with Divisional and Territorial standards.
- Process donated items by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, bailing and reloading the donations.
- Assists with heavy lifting as required.
- Climbs ladders and stores seasonal product in overhead storage bins.
- Oversees the proper processing of recycling and garbage, and participates in the processing first hand.
- Operates the forklift to move goods as necessary after sufficient training.
- Accurate opening and closing of store procedures when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- The successful job applicant will have completed High School.
Experience:
- At least one year of prior related experience, including warehouse and supervisory experience
Required Skills/Knowledge (or be willing to get trained in these areas):
- Forklift operations
- Lifting Guidelines
- Ladder Safety
- First Aid
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:
- The performance of the job requires frequently standing for long periods of time, pushing and pulling, lifting, kneeling and occasionally twisting, bending, crouching, reaching and reaching overhead
- The performance of the job requires visual monitoring.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES:
incumbent’s responsibility for Financial Resources:
The incumbent is involved in minor financial matters regularly, or on a relief basis, or has responsibility for the wise use of his/her own resources. He/She may be authorized to spend, disburse, or collect small amounts of cash. The incumbent has very little input into the annual budget.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES:
The incumbent’s responsibility for Human Resources:
The incumbent is responsible as a group/work leader. He/She is responsible for providing direction and checking results, but generally works along with those supervised. The incumbent may provide advice on hiring, firing decisions but not other supervisory decisions.
