        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Corner Brook Temple recognizes the need and opportunity to reach out to youth, their families and post-secondary students in the Corner Brook and surrounding area. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with a passion for others to embrace this exciting ministry opportunity. The goal of this ministry is to build relationships and to share Christ’s love. The successful candidate will ensure provision of discipleship and outreach ministry to the children and youth from our community and church and post-secondary students at our four campuses in Corner Brook.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support current Corps Youth Ministries / coordinate special events for youth
  • Plan, supervise, implement and participate in regular special church events primarily focused on youth and their families with the goal of creating fun, fellowship and outreach
  • Give oversight and direction to Youth Ministries and Christian Education in coordination with the “Children, Youth and Young Adults” team
  • Plan and facilitate outreach to Post-Secondary students and engage them in opportunities for church fellowship and ministry. This will include campus visits and attendance/participation in special events (i.e. orientation)
  • Create and support new ministry opportunities for youth
  • Organize and coordinate Sunday worship where youth and post-secondary students may be involved or where support is needed by Corps leaders.
  • Connect with children and youth outside of programming to aid in building trusting relationships
  • Provide a relevant online ministry that gives children and youth the opportunity to connect with each other and their leaders on a regular and consistent basis
  • Assist with Community and Family Services Ministry with outreach programs for children and youth and communicate services and programs the church offers
  • Ensure completion of police checks for volunteers, completion of statement of applicant for work with children and youth forms, online abuse prevention training
  • Attend staff and church board meetings when required
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A strong commitment to Christ with a deep and thoughtful understanding of their faith.
  • Demonstrates a passion and self-motivation for ministry to youth and their families
  • Experience in leadership working with youth, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers
  • Possess an awareness and sensitivity to current social justice issues and diverse communities and cultures
  • Graduation from a post-secondary institution with a degree/college diploma in the field of education, social services or ministry
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience working within a team environment or individually with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills and a vision for ministry
  • Possess good technology skills to enhance social media communication and outreach.
  • Must be willing to adhere to and support the mission, vision, values, policies and procedures of The Salvation Army and the Corner Brook Temple Corps.
  • Valid Driver’s License; personal vehicle and insurance, and a current copy of a Driver’s abstract
  • Obtain a Criminal Police/Vulnerable Sector Check and clearance through The Salvation Army internal abuse registry.
  • Be willing to sign The Salvation Army Code of Conduct Receipt & Acknowledgement Form

TERM:  Regular, full-time with probationary period of three months and provision of excellent health benefits and RRSP contributions

HOURS:  35 hours per week (flexible according to the needs of evening and weekend programming)
