The Alberta Ombudsman responds to complaints of unfair treatment by entities within the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction through investigations, recommendations, and education.

These entities include:
Alberta provincial government, departments, agencies, boards, and commissions;

Alberta municipalities;

Patient Concerns Resolution Process of Alberta Health Services;

Self-regulated health professions; and

Other designated professional authorities

Role

Reporting to the Director Investigations, the manager will direct and manage a team of professional staff to ensure a high quality of complaint analysis, investigations, decisions, and recommendations in accordance with the Ombudsman Act. This position is also responsible for managing the physical infrastructure that supports operations in the Calgary office.

For success in the position, you must have experience in leading an investigative team. You also need to possess exceptional consultation, negotiation, and analytical skills and demonstrate complex problem-solving ability. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, including report-writing and interview experience, are essential. Further, you will have demonstrated the ability to analyze legislation, government programs, and policies.

Qualifications

A post-secondary degree supplemented with five years of investigative experience. Related experience or education equivalencies may be considered. Ombudsman and/or Public Interest Commissioner investigation and management experience will be considered an asset.

$3,062.51 – $4,121.25 Bi-Weekly

$79,932 – $107,565 Yearly
