        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Description

The Driver provides pick-up and delivery services to donors, clients & customers by exercising safe and careful driving and material handling procedures. Good customer service skills are needed in this role when interacting with customers, assisting others with tasks, and when working alongside volunteers in the sorting center.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Provides pick-up and delivery services to donors, clients and customers by exercising safe and careful material handling procedures.

– Assists with general maintenance and when selecting or sorting donations in accordance with established guidelines.

– Ensures the safe and careful handling and pick up of all deliveries, donations, kettle and other funds while protecting property, including donations and vehicles.

– May have occasional responsibility for daily and overall safety, maintenance, operation of vehicle and records of such.

– Operate the cash register in the Thrift Store and assist with completing daily cash report, and other duties (as requested)

– Maintains knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health and Safety regulations, provincial and municipal highway traffic acts.

– Loads and unloads goods at the Thrift Store(s), destinations, and other facilities. Travelling between Middleton and Digby locations

– Performs other duties assigned.

 

NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful job applicant will have completed high school.

NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

SEPCIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:

The successful applicant will hold/have:

– Valid “G or C” class license with appropriate certification

– Proof of clean driving record

– Must attend mandatory training provided by The Salvation Army

– Must have their own reliable transportation to the Bridgetown location.

MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE:

The incumbent must have the following experience before hire:

– More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:

The performance of the job requires frequently sitting for long periods of time, twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting and kneeling.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:

The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules)

– Universal Precautions

– Wear safety shoes

– Wear gloves

– Use back braces

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

– 6 Month Contract

– Part Time – 21 Hours per week
