Reporting to the Senior Media Producer, the Video Producer is a member of the THQ Communications Secretariat (Marketing/Communications Team) and is responsible for the production of video assets for The Salvation Army.
With guidance from the Territorial Director of Marketing and Communications (NDMC) and/or the Senior Media Producer, the Video Producer is tasked with the planning, shooting, editing and post-production of video resources required by the organization. These video assets are used to communicate with internal stakeholders, build public awareness of Salvation Army programs and initiatives, and increase fundraising results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role has primary responsibilities as an equipment manager and in video production. Specific duties include:
- Shooting & editing raw footage; adding audio and special effects; adding titles and graphics; producing and editing the master video
- Ensuring compliance with established video production standards as well as the mission and values of The Salvation Army
- Assisting in all regular video productions which includes shooting, editing, and mastering
- Participating in all live productions including webcasts and multi camera shoots. Serving as a member of the general film crew with emphasis on capturing raw footage. Including serving as camera person, audio, lighting and general support duties with occasional travel for location filming.
- Supporting day-to-day operations of the media studio and developing media production standards
- Assisting with the ongoing development of video production standards and procedures for Territorial Headquarters, and the future implementation throughout the The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda
- Assisting in the production of various video projects which may involve travel throughout Canada and occasionally internationally
- Planning and implementing all activity in the media studio and storage areas, including filming/recording preparation with lighting, cameras, audio, sets and props
- Responsible for inventory, quality control and repairs of equipment, cables, sets and props
- Responsible for the safety and security of all equipment. When on location, gathering and issuing equipment for video recording sessions. Provides support in preparation, organizing transportation, loading in/out of equipment for major events.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Video Production or Communications
- Minimum 2-3 years related experience
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Knowledge of copyright laws and established video production practices and procedures to ensure compliance with general industry standards
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Premier Pro and After Effects
- Demonstrated superb customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders including outside vendors and internal video production team in a consultative, diplomatic manner
- Creative and able to produce well thought out projects with the ability to create high quality video capturing
- Understanding of media storage workflows and ability to provide assistance to the libraries
- High standards of integrity, judgment, and confidentiality
- Proven oral and written communication ability, especially as it relates to copywriting
- Detail-oriented, organized, confident and self-directed
- Strong presentation skills, oral and written
- Strong word processing and publishing computer skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Commitment to the values of The Salvation Army and Fundraising Code of Ethics and a strong desire to participate in the mission of The Salvation Army, with an ability to understand and work effectively within The Salvation Army organizational culture
- French language skills an asset
