The Office of Safe Disclosure and Human Rights (OSDHR) is seeking a positive, community-minded team member to provide educational training to the university community. The successful candidate will be an engaging and experienced facilitator, motivated, energized by challenge, and have a strong desire to create change. The successful candidate will be excellent with confidentiality, and able to provide a safe, welcoming and confidential space to individuals disclosing to OSDHR.

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director, Helping Individuals at Risk, with a daily functional report to the Office of Safe Disclosure and Human Rights (OSDHR) Advisor, the Education Coordinator and Intake Worker will be responsible for developing and delivering presentations and training sessions to educate the university community on the principles and concepts of discrimination, harassment, duty to accommodate, safe disclosures and the relevant University policies and procedures. The Education Coordinator and Intake Worker will connect with student groups, service providers, support staff, faculty members and senior administrators to recruit and advertise presentation opportunities, and will schedule and tailor presentations as needed.
The Education Coordinator and Intake Worker will promote awareness of OSDHR, and participate in awareness events and activities across the university.
Additionally, the Education Coordinator and Intake Worker will receive disclosures regarding discrimination, harassment, accommodations, safety violations, research misconduct, ethical concerns, financial mismanagement or any other possible misconduct, wrongdoing or breach of policy/procedures, and will provide appropriate advice and referral services.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the OSDHR Advisor, and develop and implement a measurable, annual education plan, including measuring and reporting on education activities.
Develop, design, and deliver presentations, training sessions and other educational outputs for students, staff and faculty members.
Connect and maintain strong working partnerships with student groups, service providers, support staff, faculty members and senior administrators.
Support the OSDHR Advisor in providing confidential and professional intake for disclosures brought forward by faculty, staff, students and others.
Refer individuals making disclosures to appropriate resources/referrals and identify appropriate resolution and or complaint processes for individuals making disclosures.
Refer matters of a complex or sensitive nature to the Advisor or Director.
Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate and confidential case records.
Attend meetings and participate on university committees on OSDHR’s behalf.
Assist with special projects and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in a related field and at least two years of experience providing workshops or facilitating sessions, and/or experience working in a complex and confidential environment; consideration will be given to equivalent combinations of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to confidently provide educational sessions to a wide variety of audiences including undergraduate and graduate students, service providers, support staff, faculty members, and senior administration.
Thorough understanding of principles related to human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, discrimination, harassment, social justice, and an understanding of how these principles relate to the learning and work environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of various forms of systemic oppression including racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, classism, etc.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to multi-task and balance multiple priorities.
Demonstrated competency in confidentiality, active listening, and neutral inquiry.
Ability to create a welcoming disclosure environment by demonstrating trustworthiness, professionalism and competence.
Suicide awareness and basic intervention training; mental health awareness and training (e.g. QPR, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, or equivalent training and experience) is an asset.
Knowledge of Alberta and Canadian human rights law, University of Alberta policies, procedures and services, and/or sexual violence is an asset.
Technical skills: Microsoft office suite, Google suite (docs, slides, forms, jamboard, etc), remote/video presentation platforms (e.g. Zoom), Symplicity Advocate GME database
