What responsibilities will you have in this role?

Responds to questions and inquiries from students, faculty and visitors.

Assists students in selecting and registering for general education and liberal studies electives and communication courses; and provides students with advisory functions.

Provides information regarding transfer credit and PLAR requirements and processes for elective and communication courses.

Reviews post-secondary transcripts and provides course advising for General and Liberal Studies transfer credit applications for both diploma and degree programs.

Navigates and interprets Banner and AI to support student’ registration processes, and support faculty with grade changes or other processes.

Communicates with academic centres and other service areas to improve interdepartmental lines of communication.

Assists with orientation activities to provide information about electives and communication courses.

Maintaining departmental documents such as enrollment tracking and grades for students in collaborative programs.

Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications do you need for this role?

Three year diploma/degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Business Administration or equivalent.

Minimum two years’ experience including practical experience working in a demanding student service environment and working effectively on the front-line; with a sound knowledge navigating computer software (e.g. spreadsheets, databases and relational databases).

Proficiency in Banner and Academic Interface is an asset.

Excellent conflict resolution, negotiation and leadership skills; strong interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to customer service.

Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills in order to identify problems, determine possible solutions, and select appropriate actions.

High degree of diplomacy and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues and matters of confidentiality.

Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions while dealing with conflicting demands and distractions; ability to prioritize and delegate work while meeting deadlines; detailed oriented.

Demonstrated ability to take initiative; solution-focused approach to addressing challenges; dynamic, positive, enthusiastic, and creative; excellent team skills.

Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.

Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.

Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
