The British Columbia Housing Management Commission (BC Housing) is a crown agency of the provincial government and is responsible for delivering a range of housing programs for British Columbians. BC Housing works in partnership with private, non-profit, and co-operative sectors, Indigenous communities, provincial health authorities and ministries, other levels of government and community groups to develop a range of housing options. New housing is created across the housing continuum, from supportive housing for the homeless to affordable rental and owner-purchased housing for middle income British Columbians.
Reporting to the Vice President, Strategic Business Operations & Performance, the Executive Director, Reconciliation & Equity Strategies, leads the development and monitoring of strategic initiatives derived from the Service Plan and Corporate Plan, identifies any gaps and/or opportunities, and initiates action plans using an advanced analysis in Reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. This Executive Director is responsible for managing a team focused on developing the programs that drive key strategic initiatives within BC Housing and between BC Housing and communities, partners, and other key stakeholders, ensuring that these initiatives are incorporated into organizational operations.
As a key business partner, the Executive Director works in close collaboration with colleagues from across the organization in solving complex challenges, leading projects, and process updates to deliver the organizational mandate by embedding Reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. The Executive Director serves as a key contributor to Executive level decision-making, leading strategic initiatives and drawing upon the key findings from analytics to improve the overall operational effectiveness and tactical plans.
The Executive Director, Reconciliation & Equity Strategies will have extensive experience leading in areas of reconciliation, Indigenous studies, human rights, social justice, critical race theory, and gender studies through a combination of academic study and/or applied lived expertise of being from a historically excluded group or community. The Executive Director will have political aptitude with extensive experience advocating for and implementing change within a multi-cultural, multi-stakeholder environment. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and/or training and education. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, public policy, education, or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
