Required Qualifications
- Graduate level of post-secondary education in Education or Library Science, (or relevant combination of education and experience) with a focus in Adult Education, eLearning, and/or Educational Technology
- 2 Years of experience; Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of and experience working with Educational and Digital Technologies, including learning management systems (LMS)
- Knowledge of and experience working with adult learners
- Experience in developing student support materials on digital and technology literacy for students using Springshare LibApps (e.g., LibGuides and LibWizard), Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other multimedia production tools
- Knowledge of and experience working with Integrated Library Systems and Library Discovery Platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate level of post-secondary education in Education or Library Science, (or relevant combination of education and experience) with a focus in Adult Education, eLearning, Open Educational Resources, and Educational Technology
- 5 years of experience in a similar position
- Superior verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to students with all levels of technical ability
- Knowledge of education software and technologies, and demonstrated initiative to learn new technologies related to libraries and education
- Demonstrated superior work ethic and initiative; ability to work collaboratively and independently with occasional direction; attention to detail
- Knowledge of and experience with Open Educational Resources

Job Description
The Educational Support Technologist provides dedicated support to all students in utilizing and navigating the educational technology required in their courses. The incumbent collaborates with Student Services members, faculty, I.T.S., and other departments to advocate and ensure educational technology is accessible to students in any learning environment. The Educational Support Technologist is responsible for creating multimedia learning materials, interactions, and interfaces to support student use and development of knowledge and skills for a successful learning experience. The Educational Support Technologist must combine technical knowledge of educational technology, multimedia authoring tools and techniques while remaining current regarding adult education, digital literacy, academic libraries, and integrating technology in education to create and distribute resources that are effective and accessible for all learners.
Duties include:
- Provide technical support to students, on- and off-campus, related to the use of education technology, online learning, and in areas related to the use of education-learning systems including computer and web browser configuration, security issues, access/login, course navigation and user tools available in eLearning systems and library discovery platforms
- Recommend process and work-flow strategies that address changes in technology for students
- Participates in testing and evaluation of new technologies as an advocate for student experience with eLearning and use of educational technologies; ensure that learning technology information sources are current
- Facilitates student orientations and workshops related to position
- Liaise with faculty to address student needs in navigating their required course educational technologies, including LMS
- Create and distribute educational materials and resources on the technologies required and recommended to be used by students
- Create, curates, and maintains resources to assist students in developing digital technology literacy skills and knowledge
- Set up and administer in person and online individual support for students on- and off- campus in developing their technology literacy skills and knowledge; create workshops and other learning opportunities for students to experiment and develop skills in using technology
- Remain current on trends and development related to digital literacy, educational technology, adult education, information technology, and open educational resources
- Work with Student Services team, including the Library, Skill Centre, Wellness, Student Life, and Accessibility, to ensure supports are created and addressed for student educational technology needs
- Work with the Librarian and eLearning Curriculum Design Specialist to support student and faculty engagement in and awareness of the Open Educational Resource movement
- Work with Librarian to develop technology-specific materials and resources, including library-related databases
- Work with Library staff to curate and maintain of Springshare LibApps and Library website
- Responsible for curating and maintaining the Library’s loanable technology collection
- Support the Library operations by providing coverage of Information Desk, including reference services and other duties as required
- Completes environmental scans and/or reports on learning initiatives and developments, related to educational technology accessibility, knowledge of, and use by students
