        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

The Maintenance position is responsible for maintaining Southview Heights and Terrace building operating systems.  Ensuring all building safety protocols are followed and in doing so keeping Southview’s staff, residents and visitors safe.

HOURS:

  • 5 hours per week.
  • Wednesday – Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the facility is clean and odor-free notifying supervisor of findings
  • Inspects the building daily to look for safety concerns
  • Repairs, or arranges for repairs, to be done on the building or equipment including kitchen equipment in consultation with the Operations and Business Manager
  • Assists with the diagnosis and repair of telephone, emergency systems, computers, and other technical applications
  • Order, store, monitor, and distribute the inventory of maintenance supplies
  • Oversees the painting of resident rooms and common areas as required in consultation with the Operations and Business Manager
  • Waxing of floors as required in consultation with Operations and Business Manager
  • Make pick-ups as required
  • Monitor the maintenance of the program vehicle
  • Works with Groundskeeper to ensure grounds, sidewalks, gazebos and parking areas are free from garbage, ice and snow.
  • Check the boiler room in the Heights and Terrace to ensure the safe functioning of the equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate temperature control throughout the building.
  • Ensures the fire alarm system and smoke alarms are monitored regularly.
  • Arrange for a vendor to check the fire system in the kitchen every six months.
  • Arrange with the vendor for annual servicing of all fire-related equipment annually or as required by law.
  • Check the enunciator fire panel to ensure proper functioning.
  • Works with groundkeeper to conduct monthly testing of buildings systems as required.
  • Check lights in common areas, exit lights, garage weekly and replace as needed.
  • Arrange for the grease trap to be pumped annually or as required.
  • Maintains residents’ pendants and pendant batteries.
  • Maintains log sheets in boiler rooms, generator room, and sprinkler room.
  • Check lights in common areas, exit lights, garage weekly and replace as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • WHMIS certificate
  • Current negative TB test
  • Able to pass a Criminal Record check

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience working in building and maintenance in a similar facility.
  • Experience working with seniors and/or individuals with cognitive and physical challenges preferred

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Able to read/write English
  • Basic plumbing skills
  • Basic electrical skills
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Knowledge of generator operations
  • Knowledge of phone and emergency pendant systems
  • Knowledge of fire and suppression systems
  • Knowledge of paint/drywall repairs
  • Willingness to attend seminars/courses to enhance skills and knowledge.
