        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

The Salvation Army’s Southview Heights and Terrace is a Senior Residence located in South Vancouver. We are looking for a Casual Care Aide that wishes to work in a warm and loving environment. Your job would be to provide care to our Assisted Living Residents.

HOURS:  

  • Casual/On-Call 7 days a week, specifically evenings and nights
  • 3:00-11:00 p.m. & 11:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING:

  • Medication reminder and/or dispensing of medication.
  • Individualized Personal Service Plans.
  • Telephone (assists with calls, hearing and vision adaptive devices).
  • Providing direction to residents for activities and meal times.
  • Residents’ personal correspondence.
  • And all other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and as per individual resident personal service plans.

MEDICATION ASSISTANCE:

  • Residents self-administration of medications, and medication reminders, and documentation of assistance provided in accordance with Assisted Living Registry Standards of Practice, Personal Assistance Guidelines, the scope of practice, and Vancouver Coastal Health policies.
  • Follows Personal Assistance Plan established by the Assisted Living Manager, Vancouver Coastal Case Manager and maintained by LPN.
  • Understands the process for delegation of health care procedures and accepts assignments that are delegated appropriately by health care professionals.
  • Observes and reports changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to the LPN and Assisted Living Manager.
  • Monitors environmental safety hazards.
  • Reports and records incidents, errors, or accidents.
  • Records observations accurately and documents service provided and resident-related events.

DINING:

  • Assists in a variety of tasks related to dining including giving gentle reminders to individuals when necessary, assisted dining room staff to remove walkers.
  • Assists with tray service for residents who are ill.

   ACTIVITY PROGRAM:

  • Participates in, and supports, the resident-centered activity program.
  • Assists Residents to and from activities at the correct activity times as necessary, as well as giving reminders to residents
  • About when activities with being.
  • Assist residents with sight or hearing impairment by providing them with knowledge about the activity program.
  • Encourage residents to seek out activity programs

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS:

  • Responds to, and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of a Home Support Worker or Residential Care Aide course provided by an accredited educational institution.
  • Must include successful completion of the medication administration module as required by Vancouver Coastal Health.
  • Must have grade 12 or equivalent.
  • First Aid.
  • Must have WHIMIS to assist with Housekeeping.
  • Must have Food Safe to assist with the meal service.

Preferred Skills/Capabilities:

  • Excellent oral and communication in English.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to read and implement duties and work routines.
  • Able to support the mission statement of Southview Heights and Terrace.
