        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

JOB PURPOSE:

The Salvation Army believes that music encourages an individualized and corporate worship. The Worship Leader holds an influential role in helping to create a welcoming, energizing, engaging and appropriate worship service to facilitate spiritual growth and a deeper connection with God.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Creating a culture of passionate worship that engages the church community: experiential, vibrant & authentic

· Leading the congregation towards an environment in which they can meet with Jesus.

· Recruits and trains volunteers with the requisite character and skill to serve in this ministry and provides them with guidance, encouragement, correction, and further training as required music and materials, in consultation with the Corps Officers/Pastors

· Plans and leads worship with imagination and empathy; platform manner is positive and engaging

· Incorporating experiential components such as corporate prayer, and stories of life change

·  Coordinates with the Corps Officers/Pastors to create well-planned and engaging Sunday morning worship services each week with special attention to days like Friendship Sunday, Christmas, Lent/Easter, etc. as well as other special events such as outreach and community programming

·  Leading Sunday Worship services and overseeing the worship teams (vocalists and instrumentalists). Responsibilities include preparation for and leading rehearsals, as well as consulting with the Corps Officers/Pastors and worship team members to coordinate the music for the Sunday service.

  • Overseeing and training all technical and visual teams
  • Overseeing maintenance of technical equipment
  • Playing a meaningful role in working with the Corps Officers/Pastors to create a healthy church culture

· Provide this leadership by modelling a life of Christian discipleship, loving and praying for those under their leadership, and overseeing, encouraging, recruiting and helping train volunteers in this ministry, while serving as the primary worship leader on Sunday mornings and mid-week Celebrate Recovery Chapels.

NOTE:  Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:

Completion of High School (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)

Post-secondary education with an emphasis in Music

NOTE:  An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK PER WEEK

Hours of work are flexible and could change from week to week.

Office Hours are between 9-4 and hours must include:

·        Sunday Mornings 9-12, Wednesday Evenings 7-9

 

 

SPECIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:

The successful applicant will hold/have:

·  A mature faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to serve him through the local church

  • Lives out of a passionate relationship with Jesus, leading with a pastoral heart and Christ-like character.
  • Is willing and qualified to join the membership of TSA Church upon hiring in full agreement of our statement of faith, adopting the mission of TSA and engages meaningfully in worship, missional, and other church-wide initiatives.
  • Proven experience, gifting and passion in leading corporate worship, exhibiting the capacity to develop a worship team and a band musically in the modern worship style
  • Functions as part of a healthy, dynamic team
  • Holds experience leading a band
  • Theological and music training at the post-secondary level preferred. Vocal and instrumental proficiency (either guitar or piano)
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A strong team player with the rest of the staff and congregation.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with people of all ages.
  • Dependable, responsible, mature, self-motivated and creative.
    Course work and/or demonstrated skill in working in music with a love for music.
    Willingness to learn and try new ideas.
  • Instrumental ability a must (specifically piano and/or guitar)
  • A clear police record check is required (including vulnerable check)
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check
  • A current Drivers licence

 MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE:

The incumbent must have the following experience before hire:

Minimum of 2 years prior related experience leading worship in a Church setting

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:

The performance of the job may require frequent set-up and clean up for activities with long periods of standing/leading

The incumbent is required to lift more than 20 pounds.

 

CONCENTRATION REQUIRED:

The performance of the job requires attention when teaching, giving support, studying, planning and development.

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES:

The incumbent’s responsibility for Financial Resources:

The incumbent has input to and/or participates in preparing budgets with respect to the departmental budget.

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES:

The incumbent’s responsibility for Human Resources:

The incumbent is responsible as a team leader. He/she is responsible for providing direction and checking results, but generally works along with those supervised.

The incumbent directly supervises between 1 – 6 volunteers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The incumbent’s work environment is typically at Church.

The incumbent works in generally agreeable conditions, with the following exceptions:

·        Irregular hours

·        The incumbent may have little to no travel required.

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS:

The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor harm, injury or illness due to:

·        Exposure to infectious diseases

·        Moving objects
