        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

The Chaplain provides spiritual care to individuals in the continuum of chronic and palliative care at Toronto Grace Health Centre in accordance with The Salvation Army mission, values, and standards.
Reporting to the Director of Spiritual Care, the chaplain is responsible and accountable for providing spiritual care services utilizing professional and program standards that respect all faiths/spiritualities/cultures, within the scope of The Salvation Army mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program and Service Responsibilities:

• Provide spiritual and religious care to patients, families and staff on a multi-faith, multicultural basis to meet the overall goals of spiritual and religious care as established by The Salvation Army.
• In consultation with the Director of Spiritual Care, coordinate and facilitate programs to maintain delivery of SRC to patients, families and staff including personal visitation, chapel services, memorial services, etc.
• Participate in the development of goals and objectives for spiritual care programs as well as evaluation process for continued improvement
• Provide regular reports to Director of Spiritual Care.
• Assist as needed in preparation of reviews, spiritual care literature, reports etc.
• Ensure information is provided to patients, families, and staff regarding available spiritual and religious care.
• Have knowledge of other faith groups’ beliefs and practices and maintain a connection to community faith and spiritual group leaders for appropriate referrals and support of residents/staff & families as needed.
• Provide support to patients, their families, and staff members on site.
• Provide support to patients, their families and staff members in palliative and end-of-life care.
• Conduct/complete spiritual assessment of patients and develop/document a spiritual care plan.
• Record required spiritual & religious care information as needed in appropriate healthcare record system.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and respect the patient’s right to privacy and freedom of choice
• Maintain standards of The Salvation Army, Policies and Procedures of TGHC and Professional Practice Standards for spiritual care delivery.

Human Resources:
• May assist in oversight of spiritual care volunteers, community clergy and outside groups as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Theological/biblical training from an accredited university, theological school, or seminary.
• Ordination or good standing in one’s faith community
• Spiritual care and/or pastoral counselling experience
• Specialized training with a recognized chaplaincy or spiritual care education body (i.e. Spiritual & Religious Care Certificate from Booth University College or equivalent and/or minimum of 2 Units of Clinical Pastoral Education (i.e. CASC) and/or combination of education & experience that includes a minimum of 1 Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.)

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

• Minimum 1-year experience in spiritual/religious care and/or equivalent experience
• Additional education, training and experience in palliative care/hospice care an asset

• Maintain own professional and personal development through attendance and participation in continuous education programs, In-services, workshops etc.
• Adhere to all Toronto Grace Health Centre and Salvation Army policies, directives, and operating guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal, time management and oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate a high level of integrity, good judgment, and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
• Attentive listening skills.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
• Be able to lift/move up to 20 pounds as required.
• Valid Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
