Terms of Employment / Hours:
- Regular – Part-Time – 15 hours per week

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is able to work in adherence to The Salvation Army’s Christian Mission and Values.
- Awareness and compliance with CHILLIWACK Policies and Procedures.
- Answering the telephone, answering and/or redirecting enquiries
- Greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate person(s)
- Filing documents electronically or manually
- Photocopying and distributing materials as requested
- Sending and receiving faxes/emails as requested
- Taking telephone messages and relaying them to the appropriate recipient
- Opening and distributing incoming mail/parcels; processing outgoing mail/parcels
- Book appointments for the Food Bank
- Book pickups/deliveries
- Receive and receipts of donations
- Data entry using Link2Feed system
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Team oriented
- Good interpersonal, initiative and organizational skills
- Ability to relate to and engage marginalized people with a positive outcome perspective while remaining non-judgmental
- Good people skills
- Must be pleasant, helpful and a worthy representative of The Salvation Army as she/he meets
and deals with the public - Adaptability and flexibility in accepting changes to routine
- Ability to deal with frequent interruptions while maintaining focus in completing all routine tasks
- Police Security Clearance Certificate
- Able to lift 30-50lbs.
- Able to function well in a team setting.
- Will have completed High School.
- Demonstrated ability using software programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel & Publisher
- More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience, including, clerical/reception/secretarial experience.
- Ability to relate to and engage marginalized people with a positive outcome perspective while remaining non-judgmental.
- She/he will be responsible to the C&FS Coordinator in matters of job performance, policy,
special requests, or other concerns that will arise.
The performance of the job requires continuous monitoring of the environment and attentiveness to working safely.
The Receptionist Secretary will work under the following disagreeable conditions:
- Monotony
- Verbal abuse
- Dealing with angry people
- Frequent interruptions and multitasking
- Temperature changes (e.g. front door opening and closing)
- Equipment and general office noise (i.e. people talking, phones ringing)
The employee may be exposed to the risk of minor to moderate injury or illnesses due to:
- Physical attacks by others
- Exposure to infectious diseases
- Exposure to toxic chemicals
The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):
- Universal Precautions
- Use of hand sanitizer
- Communicable Disease Awareness
