This is a temporary, full-time position based on 40 hours per week. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. The facility is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.
Ellen Osler Home is a 12-bed Community Residential Facility (CRF) for federally sentenced female identified parolees as they work towards community reintegration. Reporting to the Regional Director of Programs, the Program Coordinator provides day-to-day supervision of front-line program staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and customer service to meet the needs of clients, community, and funders.
Shifts: Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and supervision of front-line staff and the day-to-day operations.
- Oversee the delivery of Case Management services
- Demonstrate an understanding of the psychological and social dynamics of working with individuals who have diverse needs and interests.
- Ensure all documentation and records are completed in an organized and timely manner.
- Liaise with community resources and encourage community involvement.
- Evaluate outcomes and overall program effectiveness.
- Chair daily shift changes meetings to ensure proper transmission of information.
- Comply with all Correction Services Canada (CSC) operating standards and contractual agreements.
- Maintain information in strict confidence and according to Protected B and PHIPA standards.
- Participate in management rotational on-call schedule.
Human Resources:
- Hire, orientate, train, evaluate, reward and discipline in consultation with the Executive Director.
- Ensure that employee files are up to date and stored in a secure area.
- Assist the Executive Director or designate in scheduling and chairing staff meetings.
- Identify staff training requirements and make recommendations regarding staff development
Health and Safety:
- Provide support and supervision of staff and assist with crisis intervention.
- Responsible for assisting in client emergencies and report all incidents to the Executive Director.
- Responsible to work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Acts and Regulations.
- Ensure that proper procedures are followed in the event of a workplace injury or illness.
- Ensure that staff are aware of emergency procedures and are prepared to implement them.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed a post-secondary University Degree in social work or equivalent education.
- Minimum of three (3) years of prior related experience in a residential setting.
- Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience in supervision of staff.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Support of mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification or willing to obtain.
- Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
