Position Purpose Summary:
Work in cooperation with officers and volunteers to execute the Christmas Kettle Program. Ability to stay calm and to treat everyone with respect, dignity, and compassion, especially with COVID related stress.
This is a fixed-term job from mid-October to December 24, 2021.
There are two positions available. The shift patterns will be as follows:
1) M-F 8:30am-4:30pm
2) Tu-F 12:30-8:30pm & Sa 10am-6pm
One position is a Canada Summer Jobs position – as per agreement must be Canadian citizen ages 15 – 30.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule kettle volunteers via phone and email and troubleshoot gaps and cancellations
- Maintain volunteer scheduling database with strong attention to details
- Ongoing communication with kettle volunteers via phone, email or in person as needed
- Carry and be responsible for consistently and efficiently answering the kettle cell phone at all times during work shift
- Assist with kettle deliveries and pick-ups as needed
- Stand on a kettle as needed to fill scheduling gaps and/or cancellations
- Meet volunteers picking up kettles at the end of shifts and secure kettle donations in the safe according to territorial finance manual guidelines
- All duties will be performed with guidance and support from the Operations Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications and Education requirements:
Completed high school
*NOTE: You may be required to provide validated educational documentation.
Experience:
- Previous cash handling experience would be an asset

- Ability and willingness to work in compliance with the mission, vision, and values of The Salvation Army
- Enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to meet deadlines and cope with stressful situations
- Possess strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Reliable and punctual
- Clean criminal record and vulnerable sector check
- Valid Driver’s License with clean Driver’s Abstract
