        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Reporting directly to the Head, Enterprise Project Management Office, this role is a key leadership position that will bring deep project management expertise. You will need to be a skilled communicator and have a passion for enabling the change journey in an organization.  You will use your creative problem solving capabilities to remove obstacles and find solutions to enable projects to realize their value. You will develop and coach project manager(s) and Business Analysts to use best practice project management techniques to achieve the portfolio outcomes for the organization.  You are both a strategic and operational thinker and will roll up your sleeves to enable the team. You will partner closely with change management leadership and its team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an experienced project management professional, you will make a difference through your leadership and management of a portfolio of transformational projects within the Enterprise Project Management Office. Your accountabilities will include:

  • Thought leadership and management of project managers and business analysts to ensure execution of projects within the portfolio
  • Deep industry expertise in project management to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the PMO framework, templates, and communications
  • Enabling every project is to be delivered consistently and in alignment with EPMO practices using judgement based on the size and scope and Salvation Army practices and norms
  • Oversight and management of the projects including the development of business cases, charters, governance structures, schedules, scope, budget tracking, risks and issues ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Hands on delivery of projects according to PMO framework and best practices
  • Management of cross functional stakeholders using expert communication skills to facilitate joint planning, issue resolution and budgeting and governance across the organization
  • A commitment to transparency and clarity for stakeholders and management in the status and issues and risks
  • Timely and accurate communications, presentations and status reports interacting with diverse levels of the organization in governance forums
  • Regular liaison with Salvation Army executive leaders serving as project sponsors and owners
  • Relationship with functional leaders responsible for departments across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of advanced project management experience delivering cross-functional projects across the full project life cycle including developing business cases, managing stakeholder engagement, managing budgetary and resourcing constraints. You will have experience driving change and the ability to set direction and establish yourself as a trusted advisor. You will also have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Qualifications in Project Management and / or relevant certifications i.e. PRINCE2, PMP, Scrum, Agile, Lean Sigma
  • Experience in change management practices and certification is desired
  • Experience in and/or of the Not-for-Profit sector highly desired
