        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Description

The role of Warehouse Supervisor is to support the Warehouse/Operations Manager with maintaining and managing all operations in the warehouse. This individual is responsible for the efficient flow of goods in and out of the warehouse(s), in a manner which maximizes both company efficiencies and customer satisfaction. This individual will ensure that all warehouse service objectives are met while contributing to a safe, positive, and collaborative working environment for all. This specific seasonal position is fulfilling the role of Warehouse Supervisor at the Toy Distribution Centre supporting Toy Mountain fulfilment operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Warehouse:

  • Manage and maintain all operations of the Warehouse
  • Manage workflow of all Inbound Operations from receiving to putaway
  • Responsible for activities in picking, replenishing, checking, shipping, and pickup operations
  • Responsible for resource planning, meeting daily goals
  • Ensure effective supervision of all warehouse functions
  • Lead and manage warehouse associates in a fast-paced environment to achieve required objectives
  • Ensure that departmental targets are set and consistently met (e.g. receiving turnaround, order processing turnaround and accuracy, cycle count program)
  • Ensure that warehouse is safe, secure, and complies with OHS regulations & enforce safety rules and regulations
  • Ensure effective management of inventory in warehouse
  • Complete and submit employee incident reports to Human Resources right away
  • Ensure warehouse standards and policies are upheld
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations

General:

  • Promote the Mission, Policies and Objectives of the Ontario Distribution Centre in the Ontario Division
  • Prepare, complete, and submit documentation in a timely manner as required
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Adhere to the Salvation Army Policy & Procedure Manual, Ontario Distribution Centre Policy & Procedure Manual and Ontario Distribution Centre Health & Safety Guidelines
  • Ensure all comments regarding goods and / or services from Ministry Units, suppliers or other contacts are communicated to management in a timely manner
  • Wear the appropriate safety / Personal Protective Equipment and maintain a clean uniform
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe manner, in accordance with TSA, WSIB, CVOR, and all other regulatory requirements
  • Other related duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is typically performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to handling garbage, monotony of work (repetitive tasks)
  • Work potentially involves some outdoor work in winter
  • May be required to occasionally lift/move/transport weights more than the usual 39lbs weight

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Completion of High School
  • Completion of post-secondary in warehousing, supply chain management, inventory control and/or materials management would be considered an asset
  • Current Forklift Operators Certificate

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-year related experience

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be highly disciplined in time management
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse documentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be fully fluent in English – reading, writing and verbal
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Proven attention to detail and the ability to follow legislation, directions, policies, procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds personally and safely
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and confidential
  • Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently
  • Able to adopt a flexible work schedule during peak and / or seasonal times
  • Valid class G drivers’ license

Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:

  • A clear criminal record check
  • A clean drivers abstract

HOURS: 40 hours per week; occasional overtime
