KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handles intake interviews, orientation and evaluation of residents’ understanding of house rules, ensures ongoing enforcement of policies, which may include client discipline
- Monitors residents’ daily activities and is available for their personal, practical and morale support
- Accurately records day-to-day happenings; maintains logbooks
- Answers telephone queries regarding availability of accommodation
- Performs regular internal and external security checks
- Performs some domestic duties (i.e. simple meal prep, light cleaning)
- Performs other assigned duties required to ensure a safe and secure environment
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Social Services Worker or Community Worker diploma/certificate or equivalent with some experience in frontline work in a social service setting
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Crisis intervention training an asset
- Comfortable working with women from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of Community Resources
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team during shifts and physically able to perform walkabouts of site
- Good concentration skills as job requires continuous monitoring of environment, monitoring security cameras and attentiveness when interacting with residents and recording information
- Willing to accept the Code of Conduct required for those working at Florence Booth House
- Able to work 12 hour rotating shifts including overnights and weekends
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
HOURS: 40 hours per week
