        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Shelters Supervisor is in charge of day to day operations of the shelters and reports to the Shelter Operations Manager. The Shelters Supervisor provides support, direction and supervision to Shelter Coordinators and Shelter Workers so as to maintain a caring, compassionate and safe environment for clients and staff.

Hours:

  • Sun – Thurs, 7:30am – 3:30pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Shelters Supervisor has oversight of the routine operation of the Shelters
  • Instructs, directs, and oversees Shelter Coordinators and Shelter Workers in the performance of their duties.
  • Provides ongoing feedback to Shelter Programs Manager regarding staff, systems and procedures.
  • Participates in the hiring process; provides orientation, training and ongoing guidance and support to staff.
  • In conjunction with the Shelters Administrative Manager monitors and maintains SAMIS, HIFIS, and other reporting requirements, such as incident reports, shelter logs and bed lists, to ensure they are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • In conjunction with Shelter Coordinators ensures replacement coverage for absences due to illness or other reasons
  • Liaises with referral sources, and other external agencies as needed (e.g. VCH, police, urgent situations)
  • Takes a lead role in crisis intervention, anger control, and behavioural issues as required to ensure the safety of residents and staff
  • Provides statistics and information to management as required
  • Monitors staff safety practices to ensure compliance with health and safety standards; identifies and reports any necessary safety measures, maintenance and repairs to Shelter Operations Manager.
  • In conjunction with Shelter Coordinators’ monitors and maintains the organization, storage, and documentation of client medication
  • Participates in shelters related meetings as required.
  • Strives for cultural sensitivity in working with diverse staff, program participants, and Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside community.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and commitment to TSA Operating Principles for Shelters and Harm Reduction Guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful job applicant will have completed up to two (2) years of Community College or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • The successful job applicant will have minimum of three years of prior related experience including, frontline work in a social service setting, life skills and supervision of staff.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Windows
  • Conflict Resolution Training / Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
  • Criminal Record Review Act clearance to work with vulnerable adults
  • WHMIS training
  • Current Certification in Basic First Aid and CPR
  • Mental Health First Aid
