Description
JOB PURPOSE:
The Residential Worker participates as a team member of house staff geared towards the needs of the residents and the house. This position ensures that all residents abide by conditions of parole and house rules, while also upholding the Salvation Army mission statement and code of ethics. The Residential Worker position consists of the following:
– House rounds to ensure premises are neat, clean and headcounts are conducted.
– Maintaining log books.
– Distributing medications and keeping accurate records.
– Completing supervisor checklists.
– Engaging in regular evaluations with the Director.
– Ensuring the security of each resident and the building.
– Protect the confidentiality of all residents and staff.
– Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Director or Administration Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
PREFERRED SKILLS:
– Tolerance and compassion for individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
– The skills to counsel offenders, form effective relationships and gain trust.
– Ability to understand the use of authority in supervision and to intervene effectively in crisis interventions.
– Ability to understand the dynamics of an offender’s behavior and assess their needs and risk.
– Communication skills, both written and oral.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
– Preference will be given to those with experience in the field and/or post-secondary education.
– More than three months but less than one year experience, including experience with frontline work in a social services setting.
– Completion of high school plus specialized course of up to 6 months involving addictions facilities (An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable).
– Computer literate – Microsoft office suite.
– Conflict resolution and problem solving skills (a previous course or experience).

33 Hours every second (2nd) weekend
$15.00 per hour
Shifts Required:
Friday- 2300-0800
Saturday- 2000-0800
Sunday- 2000-0800
