- Willingness and ability to represent and work within the mission, vision & values of TSA Ridge Meadows Ministries.
- Use a client-centered approach by consistently demonstrating compassion, respect and empathy in the administration of policies and procedures.
- Assist the Executive Director (ED) with the day to day management of the Ridge Meadows Emergency Shelter, Extreme Weather and Temporary Shelter staffing and monthly financial statements, maintaining statistics and BC Housing database.
- In conjunction with the ED, participate in the candidate interview process for employees under your supervision.
- In consultation with the ED, fulfill management responsibilities in the hiring, encouraging, supervising, disciplining, and terminating (with the approval of DHQ) of staff reporting to you.
Hours:
- Full Time – Temporary 3-Month Contract with possibility of extension
- Evenings, Flexibility in hours and days is expected
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direction, support and leadership to employees through individual employee evaluations, coaching and daily observation.
- Oversee the scheduling of staff and the reconciling of hours, and be responsible for on-call schedule (sick time, vacation, EWR, etc).
- Conduct incident report investigations and make recommendations.
- Oversee that policies, standards and procedures are being consistently followed.
- Review guest files, overview the process of investigating and approving or denying guest extension requests.
- Oversee the care and safety of guests
- Provide back up support to and, when required assume functions of staff.
- Performs other assigned duties as required to ensure a safe and secure environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to supervise, coach and lead a small team
- Strong service ethic and a friendly disposition with the public
- Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions
- Team oriented and able to take initiative
- At least two years’ experience working in an Emergency Shelter or similar environment
- High standards of integrity, judgment and confidentiality with strong decision making and communication skills
- CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
