        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Description

The Salvation Army Windsor Centre of Hope Residential Care Worker is responsible to assist the needs of the residents in the Housing with Supports Home program. Identify problems and changes in residents’ behavior to be reported to the Manager. Assist in implementation of resident’s treatment plan. Provide activities to residents in program and to assist in the development of a healthy lifestyle. Objective is to provide a wholesome atmosphere directed to clients physical emotional and spiritual well-being and to raise resident to a higher level of living.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in development and implementation of resident case plans
  • Report to program Manager progress, changes and / or regression in the resident’s status
  • Within the resident’s existing environment encourage, where applicable, positive life-style alternatives: socialization, grooming and hygiene, external social opportunities, respect for dignity of themselves and others, support resident ownership of own actions and problem solving
  • Help residents develop problem solving and coping skills
  • Maintain accurate records of resident stays on paper and/or computer
  • Monitor basic medical care, handle out and ordering of medications, record medication on eMAR system
  • Ensure that fire safety and public health standard care is maintained
  • Identify severe dysfunctional behaviors i.e. substance abuse, etc. and consult program Manager
  • Plan and implement a meaningful activity, held at WCOH
  • Responsible for keeping the floor and resident’s room clean
  • Available for other duties as assigned by Manager

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a part-timeposition based on 16 hours per week
  • The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility. Normal hours of operation are Saturday and Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Normal location of work is at Windsor Centre of Hope, 355 Church Street, Windsor Ontario N9A 7G9

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Secondary School Diploma with at least two years relevant experience; A University degree, college diploma or certificate from a recognized institution with studies in counseling or related experience is preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certificate

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience working with a diverse population, including mental health and addictions, is an asset
  • Experience with or willing to learn program specific software such as HIFIS and MED e-care
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
  • Naloxone Training

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment when making decisions
  • To communicate effectively and efficiently in a positive manner as it relates to all levels of interaction with colleagues, residents, and community
  • Good computer working skills with Microsoft office and using working email for communication
  • Experience with or willing to learn program specific software such as HIFIS and MED e-care
  • A high degree of proficiency in duties as well as being able to handle and prioritize numerous tasks and evident desire for self-development, ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Be sensitive and empathetic to vulnerability of resident, Self-motivated and disciplined

  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
