Description
The Front Desk Supervisor has oversight of all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the 119 East Cordova Front Desk, including supervision and direction of Front Desk Clerks and Support Attendants and responsibility for the safety and security of the facility and all residents.
Hours:
- Vacation relief/casual.
- Shifts are typically 8:00am-4:00pm, Mon-Fri.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Support Worker Supervisor has oversight of all aspects of the day-to-day operations and supervision of the Front Desk Clerks and Support Attendants
- Participates in the hiring process; orientates, trains, and evaluates Front Desk staff
- Schedules Front Desk staff in accordance with funding contracts, union agreements and residential standards, adjusts schedules as required, authorizes timesheets and submits payroll
- Takes a lead role in crisis intervention, anger control, and disciplinary measures as required to ensure the safety of residents and staff
- Establishes and maintains proper records, logs, and reports
- Provides statistics and evaluates information to management as required
- Prepares and/or submits Incident Reports
- Monitors staff safety practices in compliance with health and safety standards, identifies necessary safety measures in a proactive manner
- Provides back-up and relief for Front Desk Staff as required
- Provides urinalysis collection services
- Maintains records of urinalyses conducted for outside agencies and submits reports for invoicing purposes
- On call duties
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed Grade 12 plus a minimum of six months in specialized courses (Criminology or Social Work preferred)
- Criminal Records Review Act clearance to work with vulnerable adults
- Correctional Service of Canada Enhanced Security Clearance
Experience:
- One year of prior related experience, including experience working with adults in an institutional or residential setting, working with parolees and individuals with addictions and dealing with crises and conflict.
NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Has a working knowledge of mental illness, substance addictions, homelessness and poverty issues and practical knowledge of life skills
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with a non-judgemental attitude, as well as possess and exercise good interpersonal relationship skills by displaying tact, courtesy and patience with residents, staff, visitors and volunteers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and superior organization and administration skills
- Experience in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills
- Must have or be willing to obtain Conflict Resolution Training, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, WHMIS training, Food Safe, and Mental Health First Aid training, current certification in Basic First Aid and CPR
- Ability to provide front line work with a population group dealing with Corrections Canada, addictions, mental health, poverty, health issues and homelessness
- Willingness to work in a drug and alcohol-free environment
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
