Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, Academic and Faculty Affairs (AFA), the Academic Programs Officer (APO) is responsible for implementing academic policies and procedures across the McGill School of Continuing Studies (SCS) and provides support for other aspects of academic programming development, such as cyclical reviews.
Primary Responsibilities:
Acts as SCS contact for University-level academic approvals committees: prepares reports for submission of program/course proposals/revisions/retirements for approval; ensures that relevant forms and other documentation adhere to guidelines; edits proposals as necessary; obtains required documents and signatures prior to submission.
Maintains a shareable database of all program/course proposals/revisions/retirements submitted to the Sub-committee on Teaching Programs (SCTP) and, as appropriate, to the Council of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (CGPS); tracks proposals/revisions/retirements through the SCS and University approvals process; maintains a shareable database of program/course proposals/revisions/retirements approved at the University level by SCTP, the Academic Policy Committee (APC), and Senate.
As necessary, assists the academic units and Client Services in preparing a report for SCS Faculty Council meetings listing all program/course proposals/revisions/retirements approved at the University lebel.
In consultation with the Associate Dean (AFA), schedules SCS Academic Committee meetings in alignment with meetings of other approvals committees and relevant deadlines; prepares the agenda for and takes minutes at Academic Committee meetings; distributes documents to Academic Committee members.
As necessary, assists the Assistant Dean, Curriculum and Program Development, in compiling data and other information related to academic program and academic unit cyclical reviews.
As determined by the Associate Dean (AFA), supervises M1-level, clerical, and casual staff in the Academic and Faculty Affairs unit.
Performs other duties as determined by the Associate Dean (AFA).

Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to carry on simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. Ability to manage and respect competing deadlines and to adapt to changing circumstances. Strong problem-solving, priority-setting, and organizational skills. Proven attention to detail and analytical skills to understand, interpret, and apply complex academic policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment using word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, and presentation software. Impeccable spoken and written communication skills in English and French. Bachelor or Graduate degree is an asset.

(MPEX Grade 03) $50,330.00 – $75,490.00
